After a nearly 15 year absence from film, Best Of The Best franchise star Phillip Rhee is punching his way back into the director’s chair with The Underdogs. Rhee described the flick as “a cross between Bad News Bears meets The Karate Kid. It’s Best Of The Best with some amazing kids!!!” on his Facebook page. Later on, he posted a picture of the kids who star in the film which is shooting right now.
Kung Fu Cinema reports that a string of martial artists will appear in The Underdogs as well: Richard Norton (Gymkata, Walker: Texas Ranger), Dan Inosanto (Redbelt, Big Trouble In Little China), James Lew (Best Of The Best, Timecop), Simon Rhee (Best Of The Best, Universal Soldier), Benny “The Jet” Urquidez (Grosse Pointe Blank, 1408), and Don “The Dragon” Wilson (Bloodfist). Mirelly Taylor and real life kid champ Rayna Vallandingham also star.
